Bessie Mitchell, aged 13, of Keokuk, was drowned while swimming in the Mississippi.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Bertha Lee who was born in 1903 and died Aug. 20, 1916. She is buried in Oakland Cemetery.
