Abner Ignatius Ames

I am searching for information regarding Abner Ignatius Ames who moved to Lafayette Township of Keokuk County from Berkshire County Mass. in 1854 and died as a result of an accident with an axe in about 1858. I believe he is buried in this area. His sons , William, Fred, and Charles lived with William McLoud, their neighbor and teacher and later worked for the Singmasters. His wife Eliza remarried to Leander Skeels.
