From the Adjutant General's Office, Washington D.C. Nov 30, 1870 -
Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt from your office of application for Pension No. 153565, and to return it herewith, with such information as is furnished by the files of this office.
It appears from the rolls on file in this Office, that Patrick Monaghan was enrolled on the 22 day of Aug, 1862 at Iowa in Co. K, 22 Regiment of Iowa Volunteers, to serve 3 years or during the war, and mustered into service as a Priv on the 22 day of Aug, 1862, at Iowa Cy, in Co. K, 22 Regiment of Iowa Volunteers, to serve 3 years or during the war. On the Muster Roll of Co., K of that Regiment, for the months of May and June 1863, he is reported wounded in Battle aat Black River, May 17, 1863 in Hospital at Memphis. Shot in Breast. Muster out Roll of Co dated July 25, 1865. Reports him severely wounded at Black River Bridge, Miss., May 17, 1863, a priv. M.O. with Co, as of the date of Mus Out after July 25, 1865.
