MINNA THOMSEN
NOVEMBER 9, 1910 - MAY 23, 1998
Minna Thomsen, age 87, of Olin, Iowa, died Saturday, May 23, 1998 at the Anamosa Care Center at Anamosa, Iowa, following a lingering illness.
She was born November 9,1910 near Wyoming, Iowa, the daughter of August and Catherine Petersen Carstensen and received her education in Wyoming where she graduated from high school in 1928. After graduation Minna worked at the Wyoming Telephone Company and on the family farm. On February 27, 1941 she married Max Thomsen at Davenport. The couple began fanning near Anamosa. In 1949 they moved to a farm northwest of Olin, where they lived until entering the care center in 1994. Max died in 1995.
Minna loved to play cards, take car rides, go shopping, visit with friends and family, and see her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Paul (Linda) of Dubuque, Gordon (Betty) of Olin, and Gary of Olin; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and one sister, Dora Dusanek of Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 1998 at the Hayden Funeral Home in Olin, with burial in Antioch Cemetery near Anamosa. The Rev. Charles Silliman officiated. Friends called Monday
from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Casket bearers were Tom Welch, Mark Thomsen, Ralph Andresen, August Paulsen, Richard Bahnsen, and Tom Paulsen.
