If Harriet came to Iowa with her mother and grandparents then I would guess Agnes is her mother and thomas pursel is step father. if harriett was born in 1849 when was agnes born??maybe Agnes was never married when she had Harriett?? have you looked for a probate will for thomas pursel or anges to see how it mentions Harriet as step daughter or daughter???
have you traced agnes to see if she was married or where are her parents buried???johnson county???
