Terrence “Terry” Dean Hagen, 68, of Iowa City, died on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch with family by his side.

A graveside service to celebrate Terry’s life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hagen Family.

Terry was born on January 26, 1957 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Dean Courtland and Colette (Gjertsen) Hagen. Terry was raised in Oxford, IA; then the Hagen family moved to Iowa City in 1972. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1975.

He worked as a barkeep at several of Iowa City’s watering holes including the Kitty Hawk and the Weekes VanEck VFW Post No. 3949: where he served up countless libations, jokes and memories for generations of the Iowa City Community.

Terry was an avid music lover and concert goer. He considered The Beach Boys to be the greatest band in the world. He was also a lifelong member of the Raider Nation.

Terry is survived by his siblings: Sharon (Terry) Yeo, Deanna Hagen, Mary Hagen all of Iowa City, Nancy (Lorne) Gessner of Edmonton, Canada, Kathy Hagen of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dennis Hagen of Eldridge, IA and Rene (Mike) Goedken of Davenport, IA; nieces and nephews RaeAnn, Deana, Angela, Darrick, Troy, Aimee, Jessica, Dirk, Rick, Tiffany, Larry and Kristjan; 25 great-nieces and nephews: Makenzi, Shayli, Jude, Alexis, Aliyah, Mazey, Prentess, Tori, Kaleena, Zoey, Zander, Kayla, Zingara, Emma, Madison, Samantha, Veda, Fisher, Ivey, Daphne, Hazel, Gabriella, Isaac, Seth and Jana and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Colette Hagen and his brother Kenneth Hagen.
