Mary Louise Kampling, 71, of Iowa City, IA, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at The University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, with Father Ed Fitzpatrick celebrating. A gathering will follow from 3-6 at The Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Kampling Memorial Fund or The First United Methodist Christ Appalachia Service Project.

Mary was born on May 14, 1953, the daughter of George Francis Sr. and Theresa Agnes (Strabala) Kampling. She graduated from City High School and The University of Iowa with a Masters Degree in Education. Mary was a teacher for over 27 years at the Iowa City Community School District from 1993 until about 2016. She was a member of the Newman Catholic Student Center and Retired Teachers Association. Mary was a very social person and loved to make friends. She loved to tutor kids from around the world and helped build houses in Appalachia. Mary loved to help others and was a world traveler.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Anna Kampling and fiancé Truett Davis of California; mother, Theresa Kampling of Iowa City; three siblings, Nancy Lafette (Mike) of Iowa City, George (Kendra) Kampling of Wisconsin and Judy Kampling of Davenport, IA; and many extended families.
