Mark J. Stratton, 69, died on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mark’s life on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the American Legion Post 271 in Coralville.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to the Sierra Club or Defenders of Wildlife.

Mark was born on December 14, 1955, the son of Wayne and Janis (Parizek) Stratton. After graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1974, he continued his education through the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship Program.

On September 27,1986 he married Marianne Daly in Burlington.

Since 1978, Mark was a proud member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125, and helped construct many local hospital and school facilities. He was eager to lend his skills in home repair to any friends and neighbors in need of assistance.

Mark loved the outdoors. He planted milkweed for the butterflies every year and always kept his birdfeeders full. Hunting, fishing, camping and playing his harmonica were favorite pastimes. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles as well as the Sons of the American Legion and generously gave to numerous conservation funds.

Survivors include his daughter, Katherine Stratton of Sausalito, CA; his mother Janis of Coralville; siblings, Steve (June) Stratton of Ely, Susan (Perry) Falvo of Plano, TX, and Gerri (Tom) Lueck of Western, IA; his former spouse, Marianne; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mark was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Kathy Stratton and Malissa Stratton.
