Evelyn T. Bothmer, age 99, died Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Evelyn Tarama Fisch was born on November 15, 1925, in Sigourney, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rosalie (Ott) Fisch. She graduated from Sigourney High School, then left for Iowa City where she enrolled at the State University of Iowa, college of nursing, receiving her nursing degree in 1952. While at the University she went on a blind date with a law student named, Clyde B. Bothmer at the Airliner, an Iowa City Icon. This was the beginning of a blessed marriage that would span seventy years before Clyde’s death in 2017.

The couple spent their working careers in Washington DC, where Evelyn was a Registered Nurse with the Red Cross. They would retire at an age that would allow them to live in a number of states traveling the world learning all about new places. They made their final home in Kerrville, TX, in a gated community that overlooked the city. Evelyn remained in her home here until after her 99th birthday.

She enjoyed having dinner parties, playing bridge, poker and being the unofficial welcome lady in greeting and bringing baked goods to new neighbors. She lived this active lifestyle until she had a stroke in December of last year. In January, she moved to Iowa City, Iowa to be close to family.

Her family includes nieces and nephews, Bonnie Bothmer Brands, A. James Bothmer, Roberta Booth, John Fisch, Jennifer Fisch Lemp, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents; her brother, Edwin Fisch; and two sisters, Martha Fisch Hollin and Monica Fisch Fern; nieces, Bobbea Bothmer Kurrle and Ruth Aird Bose.
