Nancy Lee Kienzle, 94, of Iowa City died on February 13, 2025 at Lone Tree Health Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:30 am at Lensing Funeral Home in Iowa City, where her family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at The Kirkwood Room. Private burial will be held at a later time at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Iowa City Free Medical/Dental Clinic.

Nancy was born on November 30, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Edith (Runyan) Jones. Following graduation from Iowa City High School, she attended The University of Iowa and graduated in 1950 from the Radiologic Technology Program.

Nancy married George C. Kienzle on September 24, 1950 in Gladbrook, Iowa, and enjoyed 64 memorable years of marriage before his death in 2014. She devoted her life to raising their five children in Iowa City.

Nancy was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. She was active in PEO, Chapter E and the Athens History Circle. She served on the Johnson County Board of American Cancer Society for many years. Nancy was Past President of the Advisory Board of Mercy Hospital, serving fifteen years. She volunteered at University of Iowa Hospitals and was also a simulated patient at the UI College of Medicine.

She had many friends who she enjoyed in Knitting club, Bridge club, Dance club, and Investment club; and in younger years she was an avid tennis player.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Kienzle (Susan Frye), David (Alicia) Kienzle, Paul (Laura) Kienzle, and Matthew (Jacqueline) Kienzle; eight grandchildren, Blake, Martha (Stephen Koenig), Samuel, Ethan (Melody Tinker), Erica, Rachel Tillotson (Josh), Rebekah Frith (Sam), and Drake (Kourtney); two great-grandchildren, Frye and Paul , and her sister, Suzanne Ogesen.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Juliann Kienzle, grandson Gavin, and her brother-in-law Robert Ogesen.

Her family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Lone Tree Health Care Center and Moments Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Nancy throughout the time she was there.
