Rollie Wayne Rowe, 72, a lifelong resident of Coralville, passed away from bladder cancer on September 15, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
A gathering will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Lensing’s Oak Hill in Coralville. Private interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Tiffany Rowe.
Rollie was born on September 14, 1952 to Wayne and Mildred (Abbott) Rowe. He was raised in the house that his grandfather and father built and went on to raise his own family in that same house.
He was in the first graduating class at West High School in 1970. At the age of 10, Rollie started mowing neighbors’ lawns until the age of 14 when he started working for the University Athletic Club washing dishes. By 1973, he had worked his way up to night chef. Over the years, he made a few career changes. From factory jobs to driving a dump trunk for 15 years. In the early 1980’s he started R&R Lawn Care, Inc. From there, Rollie and his youngest daughter, Tiffany worked together side by side for 34 years. He later turned the business over to his daughter in 2019.
Rollie met his future wife of 46 years, Tammy Sebers, from a friend of hers in 1978. The couple were married on May 27, 1978. Rollie was absolutely devoted to his wife and daughters.
Rollie enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeye Football Games. He also loved to joke around and make people laugh. His favorite time of year was Christmas. He loved buying presents and watching everyone’s reactions to the great gifts he always knew they wanted. Rollie also loved to cook, especially Christmas dinner; until he could no longer prepare the food, then his daughter, Tiffany took over.
Rollie is survived by his daughters: Tanna and Tiffany Rowe (Rick Seemuth); older sister, Kay Lammers (Marion) and two nephews: Matt Lammers and Pat Lammers (Cassandra) as well as his loyal dogs: Molly, Lizzie, Millie, Missy and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Tammy and his older sister, Diane “Dee Dee.”
