Robbie “Rob” Fell passed with his family by his side on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Rob was born on September 11, 1962, to John “Scoop” and Norma Weaver Fell. The Fell family moved from Tipton to Iowa City, where they created lasting friendships and connections with many families in the Fairmeadows neighborhood. Rob graduated from Iowa City West High School in 1980 and married Julie Fry a year later. Rob worked for more than thirty years with Boyd Crosby Construction on many custom homes and remodeling projects.

Rob adored his five granddaughters, and they loved him. Whether traveling to Minnesota for a visit or spending a Sunday afternoon at home, Rob loved hanging out with his girls. He helped them with projects, took them fishing, and on many tractor rides around the acreage. Rob also loved all animals. There wasn’t a stray country cat he wouldn’t feed, and he never failed to have a pocket full of milk bones for the fur grand babies.

Rob enjoyed traveling with Julie on many of her work trips and spending time in their camper at Kent Park.

Above all, Rob was a helper and a doer. If something needed built, or moved, or fixed, or tended to— if he was able, he was there. His expertise and craftsmanship were shared with all who knew him.

Rob is survived by his wife Julie; son Jonathan (Alex) and their daughters Zooey and Iris; son Ryan (Ashley) and their daughters Chelsea, Naomi, and Adelaide; his mother-in-law Glenna; his aunt Nonie; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Debbie Lou, his brother Devin, Grandpa and Grandma Weaver, father-in-law Jim, brother-in-law Steve, and several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the many providers at UI Health Care, Compassus Hospice, Briarwood Healthcare, Unity Point at Home, West Branch First Responders, and Tipton Ambulance.

The family will have a celebration of life at Lensing Oak Hill in Coralville on Saturday, September 21, from 2-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Johnson County Student Build Program, Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, or an organization of your choice.
