I POSTED A QUERIE ON THE 5TH OF MAY, IN REGARDS TO THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL IN WALNUT TOWNSHIP, IN JEFFERSON COUNTY, IOWA. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ANSWER AS OF THIS DATE. I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH MYSELF AND I CAME ACROSS A STATEMENT THAT WAS IN THE FAIRFIELD WEEKLY JOURNAL ON MARCH 6, 1884 SHOWING A STATEMENT OF RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURES OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISITRICT, CITY OF FAIRFIELD, FOR THE YEAR PRECEDING MARCH 1ST, 1884.
I FIND IT STRANGE THAT THEIR WOULD BE A INDEPENDENT SCHOOL IN BOTH THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD AND ALSO IN THE COUNTY OF JEFFERSON. THE OTHER THING I NOTICED ABOUT THIS STATEMENT, WAS THAT MONEY WAS RECEIVED FROM THE COUNTY TREASURER FOR THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT IN AN AMOUNT OF OVER $5,180.00 WHICH I FIND STRANGE FOR THE COUNTY TO BE SENDING MONEY TO A SCHO0L IN THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD.
I WOULD APPRECIATE AN ANSWER TO MY PREVIOUS QUERIE AND TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
LOUISE ANDERSEN, IN CALIFORNIA, AND I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL, IN WALNUT TOWNSHIP, IN JEFFERSON COUNTY.
