Potters from Fairfield IA

My Nathan Potter was a Civil War soldier with the 151 Infantry Regiment from Illinois beginning in 1865. Regiment records say that Nathan lived in Fairfield, Iowa. He mustered out in Columbus, GA; came back to Springfield, Il for his pay with a bride and settled in Macon Co. Il. I am looking for information about his parents or family from Iowa.
