Land records have a Lewis M. Wickersham Locust Grove Twp; bought 93 acres of land on May 27th 1846. This is the only Wickersham family listed for this time frame.

Original land records also show George Kness Penn Twp; bought 40 acres Feb 18th 1852. He is in the 1856 census for Polk TWP age 60 farmer born PA farmer; has 10 people in his home and has been here for 12 years. There is no Wickersham or similar spelling in the Jefferson County Census.
Newspaper every name index has George & Nancy Kness Divorced December 1st 1853. pg 3 col 1.

Hope this can give you some clues.
