Hello Verda,
Thank you for your response. I would be glad to tell you more. My gg grandfather was Joshua Everett Wright and his death certificate (Omaha, Nebraska) states that his father was Geo.W.Wright and his mother was Agnes Bartholmew. Joshua was born in Iowa (no city or county listed) on January 11, 1865. Those are the only facts I know FOR SURE. In searching Ancesty.com I found a listing for George Wesley Wright who married Agnes Jane Bartholmew on August 20, 1857 in Jefferson County Iowa. This also states that his first wife was Maria Louisa Ball (1849), second wife was Agnes Jane Bartholmew (1857) and third wife was Sarah Fate (1889). The children listed did not include Joshua so that made me think I may be "barking up the wrong tree" but the names were so right and the location as well that I wanted to investigate further before discounting it. According to my family records Joshua had 5 brothers...Jack, Ira Newton (born 1867), Frank, Edward O. (born 1870) and Fred N. Wright (born 1873). I have no mention of Sherman Wright anywhere.
As far as Agnes marrying a Fry, I'm only speculating that that is the case. In some photos that my grandfather labeled there is one that is Grandmother and Grandfather Wright and another one that is Grandmother and Grandfather Fry. The grandparents should have been Wright and Rasnick (Joshua's wife was Ella Virginia Rasnick). So I thought that if George Wesley married someone after being married to Agnes that possibly Agnes remarried and the gentleman was a Fry in order to be Grandmother and Grandfather Fry. It was just a way to explain my confusion. I have no idea as to when, where or if it really did happen. But thank you for checking into it.
I appreciate you being willing to look up Jefferson County information for those of us on the other end of the country. I'll look forward to hearing from you again and hopefully some of this added information will be what you need to find the missing piece to my puzzle.
Thanks again,
Carolyn
