Found in the Family Group Sheet files at the Fairfield Public Library on May 8, 2010:

(Caution: data is somewhat unconfirmed and just how reliable it should be considered is questionable, but offered as a platform for additional research)

From research provided in 1995 by a Dona Hupp, LDS researcher, now deceased:

Parents of James M Collins -

Father: Thomas Collins, b.1787 in N.C. - d.1866 in Pekin, Il.

Mother: Polly Elam, no other information provided.

Re: James M Collins - b.1821 in Simpson County, Ky. Married Sophia Allender on Dec. 11, 1845. Married Elizabeth Jane Charlton on April 27, 1851. (Note: Elizabeth reportedly was first married to Adison Wheeler on October 26, 1848).

There isn't much else in the files that I could find that had even this much information compiled and presented. /rkt
