Verda:
I am the son of Seth & Virginia Carris. Our family lived in the Packwood area for many years. You probably have me confused with H. Keith Carris. This Keith also lived east of Packwood and is a first cousin of my fathers. Harry Keith is still alive (Getting up in years) and is living at the Fairfield Hospital Care Center. We live in Swisher, Iowa and have recently retired.
I still have been unsuccessful in finding anything on Robert Moffett. They moved from Indiana to Iowa in 1852. We think he died in early 1856 as we have his will recorded in Keokuk County that year. I find his youngest son on the 1856 Census for Jackson Twp of Keokuk County living with Aurelia Moffett. He is listed on the 1850 Census in Hancock County Indiana. So, I think that sometime after the 1850 census, his first wife died and he re-married this Aurelia (maiden name unknown) He willed some land to his wife Rilly, which I believe was his nickname for Aurelia. She was shown on that census as being from Iowa, so he must have married her after arriving in Iowa. I would appreciate it if you could check the EARLY marriage records for Jefferson County to see if the marriage might have occurred there (It was not recorded in Keokuk County).
Thanks for your time in checking this out!!!
Keith
