Dear Sarah:
When I published "77 Cemeteries of Jefferson Co IA" in l990 there were 2l,380 burials listed, only there were 3,590 of them that had no gravestone. Where did I come up with dates? From wills, probates, death records, guardianships, old obituaries, etc.I had helped the first correspondent Cam Stansfield way back in 1983, 24 years ago and could find no stone for Benj or Margaret back then. I really wonder if Jacob and Adeline Allender buried them at the Upper Richwoods Cem. That cemetery had considerable work done on it about 5 yrs ago so (a Methodist Cemetery) and
those stones are all standing. But there are
lots of grassy spots where Benj and Marg. could
be....never had stones?Since receiving that family record & a nice story in l983 from Cam S. I
have had corresp with a descendant of a John
born 1828. & he said John was another son of Benjamin not listed on the family sheet in Fairfield bound books. Which of the l0 children
are you descended from?Verda Baird, corresp.secy for Fairfield IA.
