Mr. James H. Zachary, aged fifty-six years and two months, and for over fifty years a resident of Jasper county, died yesterday at his home 2 ½ miles northwest of Prairie City, after a nine days’ illness, a victim of pneumonia.
The funeral will be from his late residence at 2 p.m. next Sunday, under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, and the interment will be in Waveland cemetery beside his mother. Deceased was a son of L. E. Zachary, of Prairie City, and brother of R. B. Zachary, of this place. Two other brothers and three sisters, his second wife and four children are his nearest surviving relatives.
Deceased was a native of Ohio. He was a successful farmer and stockman, a good neighbor, a loving husband and father, a dutiful son and brother and a business man of the strictest integrity. Such men are not too numerous in any community and to the large circle of acquaintances who enjoyed his confidence and companionship, as well as the near relatives, his loss is an irreparable bereavement.
