JENNINGS

Charles Jennings passed away last Monday after an illness of fourteen days, aged 39 years 6 months and 7 days. The funeral was from the Presbyterian church on Wednesday afternoon, and the burial was at Oak Hill. His near surviving relatives are his mother and brother. Deceased was a native of New York, but most of his life had been passed in this locality. Never strong physically Charley gave promise in early childhood of an extraordinary mind. As he grew older the promises were realized in his progress at school – particularly in mathematics and history which he mastered without an effort. Later, about 17 years ago, his fragile physical organism collapsed, and, in sympathy, his mind quickly gave way. Since then he has been a constant care to his devoted, faithful mother, until death came as a peaceful sleep – a relief from suffering, an ushering into eternal rest.
