Albert Bentley, the seventh son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bentley, was born near Maquoketa in Jackson county, Oct 6, 1848, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. R. Dubert, Saturday, Nov. 27, after a short illness. He was taken ill while in town on Tuesday and was unable to go to his home.
Born and reared in Jackson county, all but two years of his seventy-two were spent in this community in the affairs of which he was always vitally interested.
In 1869, he was united in marriage to Catherine Ebersole, to which union were born three children, two of whom survive him. Death took the young wife in 1874, and in 1875 he married Philama Bagley, who preceded him in death fourteen years ago. To this union were born three sons and two daughters, all of whom survive him. Besides these seven children, one sister, Mrs. Jesse Anderson, seventeen grandchildren and a host of friends will miss his genial kindliness. He was a man of sterling character, a public spirited citizen, a good neighbor and a loving father.
Funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. R. Dubbert, Tuesday morning at 10:30 and the Union church at 11:00 o'clock with burial at Union cemetery. Rev. E. A. Lang of the M. E. church officiated.
