What Kind of Beginning?
Casey Lee Tarr may have won the honor of being the first baby born at Battle Creek’s Hartley Memorial Hospital in 1978, but the new arrival also came on what most consider an unlucky day, Friday the 13th. The 7 lb., 15 ½ oz., 21-inch boy didn’t bring any hesitant looks to his parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Tarr of Battle Creek, despite the timing of the birth. Casey Lee and his parents are the winners of several prizes sponsored by the Battle Creek merchants for the first baby of the year at Hartley. The new Battle Creek resident has one brother, Corey, 3, and two sets of grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brockelmann and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tarr, all of Battle Creek.
