First Baby Contest Won By Eugene Leon Jensen
Lad Arrives Shortly Before 7 a.m. Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Jensen of Odebolt are the winners of the Pioneer Record’s First Baby contest. Mrs. Jensen gave birth to a five pound, 12 ounce boy Sunday morning at 6:40. The winner has been named Eugene Leon.
Former Ida Grove Resident - Mr. Jensen is formerly from Schleswig, but now is a mechanic in an Odebolt garage. Mrs. Jensen lived in Ida Grove until 1951 when they moved to a farm near Arthur. They have an older son, Jerry, who was two in October.
Treats For Tot – The tot is in for a real treat thanks to several Ida Grove merchants. He will receive from local merchants such things as a high chair pad from Moore Furniture, $5 worth of free baby food from the Golden Rule store, 21 quarts of milk from the Ida Grove Dairy, 20 loads of diaper wash from Econ-o-Wash plus gifts from Tyrell Studio, Penney’s, Bo-Peep Shop, Heffron’s and Wolff and Co., Inc.
