(July 4, 1855 – January 15, 1943)Tom Leahy Funeral Monday
Funeral services were held here in St. John’s Catholic church Monday morning for Thomas Leahy a longtime resident of Gilmore City, who died after an illness at Carroll. The Rev. Father H. Hermsen officiated. Pallbearers were Clyde Cavanaugh, William Schleisman, Andrew Ley, Orville Murphy, Lambert Rohner and James Moran. Those from away who attended the rites were Thomas H. Leahy of Richmond, Ga., Mrs. Agnes Hawk and daughter Helen of Chicago, Matt Higgins of Boone, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Blink and M. H. Collins of Fort Dodge. Mr. Leahy was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., July 4, 1855, the son of Michael and Catharine Leahy. He was one of nine children. He moved with his parents to Lizard Township, Pocahontas County, and in 1900 married Miss Ann Byrne of Rolfe. Mr. Leahy lived in Gilmore City until three years ago when he moved to Carroll.
