GRIFFITH.
Last Friday evening, after spending several months of painful illness, Mrs. R. V. Griffith, of this city, peacefully passed away. In her death, the home, the community, and the Welsh Church have met with a sad and a great loss.
Mrs. Griffith was the beloved wife of the late Rev. R. Vaughan Griffith and had resided in this city for eighteen years. Mr. Griffith was for a number of years pastor of the Welsh Church of Bristol Grove, Foreston and this city, and our departed sister took an active interest in the work of the church in its different branches. She was a successful Sunday School teacher, was also for a number of years president of the Ladies Missionary Society, and an active member of the Dorcas Society. Great credit is due to our departed sister for the effectual work done by her late husband as pastor in the different churches in which he served. It might be said of her that she was an inspiration to her beloved husband by the confidence and sympathy which she tendered him. When she met with the great bereavement through the death of her beloved husband which took place in April, 1913, she continued faithfully to perform her Christian duties until the time came when she at the ripe age of 70 was called to receive the reward of the faithful.
She received all the care that loving hands could do. We cannot speak too highly of the service rendered by her daughter, Mrs. Thomas, also Mr. Thomas and the nurse, Mrs. Davis, who has been with her during her last weeks of sickness. The funeral took place Monday. After brief services at the home, the remains were removed to the Welsh Church where further services were conducted by Rev. David Edward, assisted by Rev. Shoemaker, W. L. Evans, of Mankato, and Rev. John Jones, of Ottawa. The remains was {sic} laid to rest beside those of her husband at Pleasant View Cemetery. Appropriate music was furnished by a Quartet from the Welsh Church and also a Quartet from the M. E. Church.
The large number of beautiful floral tribute which was sent speak of the high regard in which our departed sister was held. The members of the Missionary and Dorcas Societies attended in a body. A. J. Cray, Morris Jones, Wm. C. Jones, Ellis Owen, Samuel Roberts and Wm. Sanborn acted as pall bearers, and David Thomas had charge of arrangements.
The daughters, Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Williams, their families, her brother, as well as all other members of the bereaved family, have the sympathy of the community in their hour of sorrow.

Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone shows she was born in 1850 and the above indicates she died Aug. 8, 1919. She is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
