Marian E. Bauercamper, 75, of Waukon, IA, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, in the company of family at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. A celebration of life and burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Howard County, IA, will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org) and becoming a registered organ donor (registerme.org). Martin-Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is assisting the family.
Marian Elizabeth Bauercamper was born in Ames, IA, on November 23,1948, the daughter of Thomas and Edith (Evans) George. She was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Cresco, IA, and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1967. She attended college at the University of Northern Iowa, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1970.
On June 20, 1970, Marian married John Joseph Bauercamper at First Lutheran Church in Cresco. Marian and John lived in Fridley, MN, from 1970-1973. After John obtained his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1973, they moved to Waukon, IA, where John was employed.
Marian joined and was an active member of the New Century Club, where she made lifelong friendships. She was a Girl Scout Leader and very much enjoyed volunteering at Camp Tahigwa in Dorchester, IA. She had a great interest in genealogy, spending time researching and connecting with new relations and passing on family history. She was the proud owner of a Century Farm in Lime Springs, IA, founded by her grandparents in 1911.
Marian was diagnosed with kidney disease in the 1990s, and after several years of dialysis, received a life-saving kidney transplant on November 24, 1999.
Survivors include her husband John of Waukon; children: Jean (Greg) Bossom of Waukon, Michael (Janice) Bauercamper of La Crescent, MN, Laura of St. Paul, MN, and Mandy (Elizabeth Roberts) of Seattle, WA; her seven grandchildren: Zachary Lensing, Leah, Maya, Olivia, and Ava Bossom, and Brandon and Brooke Bauercamper; brother Jerry (Sue) George; nephew Tom (Tracy) George; niece Angela (Ryan) Chambers; and sister-in-law Marilyn (Michael) Matthes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter BreAnn Bauercamper.
