Letty Reisetter
February 24, 1925 - November 4, 2011Letty, age 86, died on Friday at her home in Radcliffe, IA. Letty Marie (Hilpipre) Reisetter was born on February 24, 1925, to Charles Victor and Jessie Bell (Rapp) Hilpipre. She was born at home on a farm near Blairsburg. Letty was one of twelve children. She married Glenn Reisetter on November 1, 1945, at the Salem Lutheran Parsonage. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Radcliffe, where they attended church until their deaths.
She and Glenn raised their four children on the Reisetter Century Farm where she helped in the fields. They raised many cattle and chickens and had a garden. They lived there until they moved to town in 1994. Letty adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each one held a special place in her heart. She loved helping out at Duck Worth Wearing and always took baked goods to share. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and making kringla and lefse.
Glenn and Letty traveled to many states and continued to go to South Texas for many years where they acquired a number of friends.
She is survived by one daughter Karen Gaunt, two sons, Merritt (Jan) Reisetter and Rick (Laurie) Reisetter all of Radcliffe, and one daughter-in-law Jackie Reisetter of Ames; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Jerry) Taylor of Lawrenceville, GA, Robyn (Larry) Vitch of Apple Valley, MN, Lisa (Jim) Carpenter of Milford, IA, Amy (Eric) Abrams of Ames, Daniel (Robyn) Reisetter, Ashley Reisetter (Jesse) all of Radcliffe, Holly (Jeremy) Eide of Randall, Auston Reisetter (Jamie) of Hubbard and Trenton Reisetter of Radcliffe; ten great-grandchildren, Brandon & Zachary Taylor, Kaylen & Carter Vitch, Casey & Jamie Carpenter, Colby & Mackenzie Abrams, Denver Reisetter and Chase Reisetter; two sisters, LaVonne (Norval) Story of Woolstock and Mary Lou (Vern) Diederich of Osage; one brother, Donald (Mary) Hilpipre of Plainfield, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, her parents, one son Bernard Reisetter, one grandson Travis Gaunt, a son-in-law James Gaunt, and a daughter-in-law Marilyn Reisetter, her sisters Vera Olson & Mildred King, her brothers Alvin, Wayne, Howard, Virgil, Charles Jr. & Bernard Hilpipre.Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church or Homeward Hospice. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, 08 Nov 2011.
