Beulah Lovina Braga Patton, 102, of Hampton, IA passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 16, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Mike Tauke officiating. A time for visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
Beulah was born July 15, 1912, to Mary Marcella (Courtney) Braga and Irvin Welcome Braga in Iowa Falls. She graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1929. She was married to Lyle "Skinny" Patton of Hampton in the rectory of the old St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hampton on June 10, 1933. They were happily married for 67 years. Many of those years were spent on the Century Farm on the Patton corner four miles north of Hampton. Lyle passed away January 9, 2000.
Beulah was active in many organizations in Hampton. She served in various offices including the presidency of St. Patrick's Women's Society, Child Development Club, Federated Women's Club, and Franklin General Hospital Auxiliary. She was a longtime Patient Advocate at the Hampton Health Care Center. She loved playing bridge and going to school activities including numerous girls state basketball tournaments. She served as a lector at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was a communion minister, and one of her joys was taking communion to the sick and homebound with Jean and Amy Wolfe.
Beulah is survived by son William (Mary Ann) Patton of Hampton, son John (Nelda) Patton of Lacey, WA, grandchildren Terry Collett, Bill (Stacey) Collett, and Maureen Collett of Billings, MT, Ann Marie Patton of Hampton, Mary Frances Patton of Iowa City, John West (Leigha) Patton of Whidbey Island, WA, Matthew James Patton and Shane Lyle Patton of Lacey, WA, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, step-mother Isabelle Nelson Braga, four brothers Stanley, Vincent, D'Vere, and Marvin, daughter Jacqueline Collett, son-in-law Jerry Collett, and grandchildren Michael Collett and Patty Collett Halligan.
