Death of Joseph Wolf

Joseph R. Wolf died at his home in Britt, on Saturday, July 11, 1908, after a lingering illness of several weeks caused by cancer of the stomach.

Joseph R. Wolf was born in Knox County, Ohio, on Oct 12, 1840. On Feb 29, 1872, he was married to Ruth Allen, at Spring Valley, Wisconsin, who survives him together with one son, Walter A., who reside in Britt, two other children having died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Wolf came to Kossuth County in 1872 and to Hancock County in 1880 and this has been their home since that time.

Mr. Wolf was an old soldier having enlisted in October 1862 and served over three years. He leaves many friends who will be pained to hear of his death and will extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.

The funeral services were held at the G. A. R. hall at 2 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Greenaway of the Congregational Church officiating. The last sad rites at the grave were conducted by the Britt Post G. A. R. in accordance with the ritual of that order.
