Death of Capt. Strong

Capt. J. D. Strong who had been a familiar figure in Britt for nearly a quarter of a century died at his home in this city last Thursday night, the cause of death being old age, complicated with heart trouble. Mr. Strong was 62 years old.

He came to this place from Tama County about 1880 and practiced law here in early days. He was an old soldier enlisting as a Private in Company I, 28th Iowa Infantry, Aug 16, 1862. During the service he was made Captain of his Company.

The funeral service was held Saturday at the Congregational Church, Rev. Marshall officiating. He was a member of the G. A. R. post of this city and his old comrades took charge of the funeral.
