My research has found Benjamin to be the son of George Peter Van House and Catherine Barnhart who were married in Canada and later moved to St Lawrence Co, NY where Benjamin was likely born.

I have not been able to find the parents of Mary Eliza Smart. All of the vital records support when and where she was born, but there are no records that support the parents that are listed on most Ancestry trees, Robert Smart and Mary Lantry. Also Robert's Will contradicts that his daughter is our Mary Eliza.

If anyone has any information regarding Mary Eliza's parents, I am happy to share my research as well.
