CLEAR LAKE -- Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Jewell, for Gail Y. Ahrens, 25, of 725 N. Shore Drive, Clear Lake, who died Monday (Feb. 13, 1989) at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, after a lengthy illness.

The Rev. Carl Ries will officiate. The body was cremated. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests memorials be given to the Gail Y. Ahrens Memorial Fund.

Miss Ahrens was born July 1, 1963, in Story City to Robert and Marie (Vermeersch) Ahrens. She was a 1981 graduate of South Hamilton High School in Jewell. She attended Iowa State University, Ames, and later the Iowa School of Barbering in Des Moines.

She was employed as a hairstylist at Jerry's California Concept in Ames for two years. She then moved to Dallas, Texas, where she was employed at Jazmane and later RiDon's. In September 1988 she returned to Clear Lake, due to ill health.

Survivors include her parents, Robert and Marie Ahrens, Clear Lake; six sisters, Leslie Ahrens, Clear Lake; Peggy Moore, Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Marian Tompkins, Clear Lake; Mrs. Teresa Lindaman, Jewell; Mrs. Susan Franke, Iowa City, and Mrs. Marcia Hove, Stanhope; two brothers, Thomas Ahrens, Sacramento, Calif., and Joseph Ahrens, Ankeny; a paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Ahrens, Rogers, Ark., and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Vermeersch, Blacksburg, Va.
