HANS P. NIELSEN LAID TO REST IN JEWELL

Hans Peter Nielsen, a well known citizen of the territory northeast of Story City for over 50 years, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6, at the home in Webster City of one of his daughters, Mrs. Emma Shields. Death resulted from dropsy and heart trouble, Mr. Nielsen having been in poor health for about a year.

The funeral service was held Friday afternoon, Jan. 9, at the Fleenor Funeral home in Jewell, with Rev. E. W. Nye, pastor of the Federated church, in charge. Burial was made in the Jewell cemetery. Those who served as pallbearers were Jens Christensen, Nels Williams, N. P. Laueson, Nels Larson, Chas. Nelson and Hans Knudson.

Hans P. Neilsen was born in Flakkebjerg, Denmark, Sept. 29, 1867, and died at Webster City, Jan. 6, 1942 at the age of 74 years, 3 month and 7 days.

He came to America in 1885, first in Illinois, then in Hamilton county, where he lived on his farm northwest of Story City until in 1921, when he moved to Jewell. He lived at that place until 1931, since then he has made his home with his children, mostly at his farm.

In 1891 he was married at Webster City to Johanna Marie Peterson, who died December 31, 1930. He is survived by eight children and 21 grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. Anna Omvig of Story City, Mrs. Lenora Sampson and Mrs. Threna Miller of Ames, Mrs. Emma Shields of Webster City, Mrs. Clara Green of Anderson, Ind., Harry Nielsen of Story City, Mrs. Julia Skilbred of Blairsburg, and Arthur Nielsen of Rowan.
