Word has been received here by Mr. and Mrs. E.N. Coons of the approaching marriage of their grandson, Harold S. Coons, of Ames, to Miss Maxine Beard, of Ames.
The wedding will take place at the Civilian Conservation Construction camp, at Council Bluffs.
The camp chaplain will officiate and the wedding plans are being arranged entirely at the camp.
Mr. Coons was a Hamilton county boy, having graduated from the Blairsburg Consolidated school with the class of 1928. He was graduated with honors, being especially active in athletics. After completing his high school course, he entered Iowa State college, in the forestry division. He was a letter man on the varsity baseball nine of that institution, and was graduated from Iowa State college with honors in 1932.
Since the organization of the C.C.C. camp at Albia, he has been camp superintendent, being transferred this fall to Council Bluffs.
Miss Beard was an honor student at Iowa State college. She was affiliated with Chi Omega sorority, and Phi Upsilon Omicron sorority, graduating with the class of 1932.
They plan to make their home in Council Bluffs.
