At the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Goss,in New Sharon, Thursday evening, May 28, 1891, Mr. C.W. Burket and Miss Emma Goss, Rev. A.S. Loveall officiating.
It affords us real pleasure to record the union for life of these two most excellent young people. Mr. Burket is one of our most energetic, upright and successful business men. His bride is the only daughter of our esteemed friends, Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Goss. She is a lady of many accomplishments. They will be at home to their many friends after June 15th, in New Sharon.
The wedding ceremony was witnessed by many relatives and invited guests. Miss Essie Wallace presided at the piano and to the sweet strains of the wedding march the bridal party stepped into the parlor and were united by a brief, but impressive marriage ceremony. The congratulations were numerous and earnest, and must, if possible, have added joy to the hearts of the newly wedded couple. The wedding feast was one of the finest ever prepared for and enjoyed by New Sharon people. The happy pair were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents; showing with what high esteem they are held by our people.
On Saturday night a wedding reception was given [for] Mr. and Mrs. Burket at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. McKnight. After thirty invited guests were present a a most enjoyable evening was spent by these present. Splendid refreshments were partaken of and with social chat and games the evening passed swiftly and pleasantly away. At a late hour the happy company dispersed, wishing Mr. and Mrs. Burket long, and prosperous lives.
