VAN SCYOC Family history

Looking for info on my GGrandfather, born 1808 in Virginia. In all of the records that I have checked he just goes by the name of A. Van Scyoc.

He disappeared in 1860 in Fremont County, Iowa.
His wife was Sarah Ann Farley. They had four children before he disappeared. Margaret, Franklin,

Jackson and Ben. Ben and Franklin followed Jackson out to California. All three are buried in a cemetery in Elk Creek, Ca. My question is........
what was A. Van Scyoc's FIRST NAME.
