There was a newspaper at Hamburg, "HAMBURG DEMOCRAT" and at Riverton, "ENTERPRISE" in 1879, but neither of them appear to have survived the passage of time.

Dying in May 1879, Joseph Ripley should be on the 1880 mortality schedules. Have you checked that record?
