I am attempting to locate the burial place of my gggrandfather Isaac A. Hardy.
The information I have is that he died in Fremont County in 1896. It has been mentioned to me that a now dead descendant of Isaac's thought that he was buried in a small cemetery located on a local farm. It was said that you had to cross a farmer's field to get to it.
Also, I see in Isaac's obit (ref. Saint's Herald Obituaries, Vol. 43, page 768; RLDS Library, Independence, MO) that his funeral services were "held at home". This may also indicate that he is buried on the old homeplace. z Maybe the cemetery is located near where the Isaac Hardy home was previously located?
It should be noted that the 1885 Iowa State Census shows a "Isaac A Hardy", age 8, also included in the elder Isaac Hardy's family. I have not been able to find any subsequent records of the younger Isaac and so guess that he may have also died shortly after the 1885 census. I have not been able to locate the burial place of the younger Isaac Hardy either.
I'm wondering if both Isaac Hardy's are buried in this small, out of the way cemetery. Can you shed any light?By the way, the 1885 census address for Isaac Hardy's family is Green Township; Freemont County; Street Address SW1/4 by SE1/4. The street address is somewhat difficult to read but I believe this is what it says.
