Don't really have a query - just wanted to contact another Stephani . As far as I know , courtesy of 'the Book of the Stephanis 'the name originates in Germany and there are only about 4 families in England , mine and 3 possibly Greeks or Cypriots judging by their first names , based in London . My father dob 17/3/17 came to England in 1941 from Tarnopol , Eastern Poland ( actually under Russian occupation at the time of his birth ). The name didn't really fit in Poland as the 'F ' sound in Polish uses the letter F not ' PH '. As far as he knew his grandfather , that he never knew , came from Italy ' when they built the railway '. He had 2 older stepbrothers , also Stephani , never heard of since WW2 . Wherever I go I look in the phone book but to no avail until I went to Sydney Australia earlier this year and there was one in the book though I never managed to speak to her . I don't imagine I've thrown any light on your research but please feel free to get in touch - its lonely being the only one !
