A search of Wisconsin records turned up the record of the marriage of May Belle Mikula to Guy Seymour Wood, March 22, 1905 in Washburn County. On the 1910 census there, Guy reports birth in Iowa to NY born parents. By 1920, Mable is a widow.
On the 1885 Iowa State Census, there is a Guy S Wood, age 11, son of John A Wood and Harriett, living in Fayette County. John was born in NY, Harriet in Iowa. In 1895 the family does not show Guy living with them. In 1900, Harriet reports only 2 of 3 children living, with two others remaining in the household. However, this could be an error if she thought she was just to report those living at home. Also, the family may have been estranged from Guy.
The 1910 census also reported Guy as having been married twice.
Births were not recorded in Iowa before 1800. However if Guy married the first time in Fayette County there may be a marriage record. In 1895 the family was living in Brush Creek, which is now the Arlington area. This is also close to Clayton County, IA, so he might have married there.
