Nellie Risk Wimmer (14 Apr 1871 - 14 Aug 1955) was survived by her daughter Mrs. Charles (Letha) Jarrells, Kerriville, TX and Senator Don A. Risk a nephew according to obituary published in the Independence newspaper. Also a number of relatives from distance were listed ... all of the Risk family. She died at her home in Oelwein and burial was made in Oakwood Cemetery in Independence, Iowa. She was a very active member of the Oelwein First Presbyterian Church.
I have found no trace of Edward Wimmer after 1895. He is not listed in index of Oelwein area deaths reported in the Oelwein Register during this period or burial in the Oelwein area cemeteries. Nellie's son Hubert Wimmer was found dead in a refrigerator car at Laramie, Wyoming in January 1929 and buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. He was married to Mary Gillis and father of Rosemary and Donald before being divorced. Mary then married Pierre Carpenter and was found on the 1930 census in Washington state. The children went by the Carpenter surname.
