Located an old letter dated 23rd March 1846 from the agent of the Clanwilliam estate to the landlord, General Meade in England. It reads as follows:
An application has been made to me by John Savage of Bridge Quarter (parish of Kilcoo) for a transfer to Michael Rea on the hill for theland old Savage and his son John were successively possessed off as he Savage is for America.

I think there is also another letter of 30 March 1847 which mentions a widow Savage and her two sons going off to America.
