Johann (John) Demmer (1852-1927) emigrated to the United States settling briefly in NE Iowa which is likely where he met his wife Theresa Bruggemann (born in Iowa). His brother Heinrich (Henry) Demmer settled in Dyersville. Another brother August Anton settled in nearby Worthington. Their parents, Bernhard and Katharina Demmer remained in Germany.

Johann (John) and his wife Theresa settled near Union City, Oklahoma. I once visited his grandson Leo Anthony (around early-mid 1990's) who still lives on the home farm when I last spoke to him in December 2013. I remember Leo stating when we visited that the family farm that we were standing on, was originally a "Sooner Farm" during the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889.

Johann's son Bernard (1882-1952) I believe is also buried in Union City along with his wife Angela C. Niehues Demmer. I only know of one child from their marriage.. Angela, who married Robert Reid. I would assume that is you and that Leo would be your first cousin.
