VÖRDING (Voerding), Bernard Henrich, born 7. 11. 1818 in Osterwick (parents: Bernard Henrich Vörding, shoemaker, and Susanna Maria (Anna Maria) Richtering), † 17.03.1901 Duelm, St. Georg Township, Benton Co. MN. At the same time, probably on the same ship, emigrated Henrich Voerding’s (born 1818) brother Bernard Henrich Anton Voerding (born Osterwick, 01.09.1808), shoemaker, to America. Of him we now nothing yet. The American relatives suppose that he might have settled in Ohio. In Germany the family of Henrich Voerding (born 1818) lived in Osterwick (Westphalia), Dorf Nr. 60. The Henrich Voerding (born 1818) family and his brother Bernhard (born 1808) reached New York in November 1851 (so the document of naturalization).
Surely Heinrich Voerding did not willful tell the untruth for the document of naturalization. If his first son Bernhard Heinrich (born 1843 in Osterwick) was buried on the cemetary of St. Mary already on 09.10.1851, when he was 8 years old, the family of Heinrich Voerding must have lived there already in September / before the October, 9th.
Occupation in Germany: shoemaker and farmer (“Ackerer”), in the USA: farmer and post office clerk.
On 02.05.1851 he applied for emigration to America for his family and his unmarried brother Bernard (born 1808). After the immigration from 1851 to about 1858/9 the Henrich Voerding family lived in Spring Prairie, Walworth Co. near Burlington, WI.married 19.05.1843 in Osterwick, Ss. Fabian and Sebastian (witnesses: Bernard Vörding, Joan Henrich Janning)
JANNING, Maria Anna, born 06.10.1820 in Wettringen (parents: Gerhard Henrich Janning, daylaborer, and Anna “Maria Adelheid” Lütke Tymann, Wettringen, Dorfbauerschaft Nr. 46 a), † 13.01.1907 in Duelm St. Georg Township, Benton Co. MN.
Children: The first three children are born in Osterwick (Westphalia) and baptized in the
same village in the church of Ss. Fabian and Sebastian.

place (godfather/mother: Joan Henrich Janning, Gertrud Vörding), died where?, when?
In the census for Stearn Co., Minnesota, he is listed as 11 years old. The place was the
Berlin poststation. Berlin was founded in 1859 and later changed its name into “Neenah”.
In 1863 the name was again changed into St. Augusta. The boy must have died between
06.07.1860 and 09.06.1870 (census list), because he is no longer listed. Is is possible that
he is the one, who was brought to death by a cow?
