IOWA NEWS CONDENSED
At Burlington a few days ago Jake Martin entered the Hellen Foundry, and, after a few moments’ conversation with a workman named W. L. Schuch, he seized a heavy ladle, and swinging it round his head, brought it down with an awful force upon Schuch’s head, crushing his skull like paper. Martin escaped in the confusion. The dispute was over money owed by Schuch to Martin. Schuch was conveyed to St. Francis Hospital. He is so terribly injured that he cannot live.
