Shot a Peacemaker
~
Manchester, Jan. 5. – Will Work, a butcher of this city, was shot yesterday by Richard Rogers, a blacksmith, the bullet entering his arm, procuring a wound that is painful, but not serious. Rogers was taken before a justice and placed under $5,000 bonds, which he was unable to furnish. Rogers had been drinking, and before the shooting became involved in a quarrel with a fellow boarder at a Main Street restaurant. Work had been called upon for protection by the proprietor of the eating house.
