GRAVES, Clifford Harry, 74, Aurora, Mo., former resident of Leon, died at home April 11. Service was conducted from Slade & Duerr Funeral Home April 14 with Rev. Mr. Dick Speight officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Cainsville, Mo.

Clifford Henry Graves, youngest son of Thomas Henry and Nina Vea Graves was born Aug. 15, 1912, in Decatur County, Iowa and died April 11, 1987, at the home in Aurora, Mo. after a long illness.

Clifford grew up in Decatur and attended grade school and high school there. Clifford and Lois were married Sept. 14, 1940. Seven years later a blue-eyed blond baby girl, one day old, came into their lives and lived with them.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cainsville, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, during World War II.

In 1977, he retired from St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. and a year later, when his wife retired, they planned to spend their retirement years traveling. On Jan. 13, 1980, Clifford suffered a massive stroke and since that time had been an invalid being cared for at home by his wife.

He is survived by his widow, Lois, of the home; daughter Sherry, son-in-law, Claud, and two grandchildren, Tammy and Tim of Kansas City; two brothers: Gerald Graves, Leon, Iowa, and Clarence Graves and wife Edith, Osceola, Iowa; sister, Audrey Graves, Leon; two nephews: Harry and Joe Graves; aunt, Frances Espe, Portland, Or., and several cousins.

Visitation services were conducted by Crafton-Crantell Funeral Home in Aurora on April 12.
