Herbert Owen George, son of Charley and Bertha Mae McCaw George, was born October 3, 1905, near Princeton, Missouri, and died May 18, 1980, at his home in Garden Grove, Iowa, age 74 years, 7 months, and 15 days.

He was united in marriage to Vivian McClure January 25, 1930. To this union a son and daughter were born. Owen and Vivian have been married 50 years.

Owen farmed most of his life near Garden Grove. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors are widow, Vivian; son Joe and wife Karen, Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter Donna Anderson and husband Larry, Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren: Rhonda, Barbara, and Joe, Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Bernice Waters, Princeton, Mo.; aunt, Wilma Moore, Princeton, Mo.; three nieces; one nephew; other relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral Services were held May 22, 1980, at 1:00 p.m. at the Slade Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa, with the Rev. David L. Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
