Roy R. Stookesberry
Roy R. Stookesberry, 73, 305 W. North, Bloomfield, died at 12:20 a.m. today at the Davis County Hospital.
He was born Oct. 9, 1904 in Stiles to James W. and Mattie May Brewer Stookesberry. He retired in 1969 after 33 years as superintendent of the Bloomfield Water Plant.
He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, Franklin Lodge No. 14, AF & AM, and the Order of Eastern Star.
On Oct. 10, 1925, he married Evelyn Evans in Bloomfield. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jean Wilkinson of Audubon, Wauneta Marlette of fort Madison, three granddaughters; two brothers, Dean Stookesberry of Mount Pleasant and Dale Stookesberry of Ottumwa; three sisters, Vera McMains and May Harris, both of Bloomfield, and Mrs. Viva Cossell of Boulder, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alva.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Priester Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Fred Sawyer. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Family visitation will be from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A memorial has been established either to the Bloomfield Christian Church or the Masonic Temple.
